A Canvas in Nature: International Montessori School-Erbil’s Creative Journey to Shanidar Park

At International Montessori School-Erbil, we believe that the world is the ultimate classroom. Recently, our Kindergarten students embarked on an inspiring excursion to Shanidar Park, one of Erbil’s most beautiful green spaces, to explore the intersection of movement, mindfulness, and art.

The morning began with vibrant energy as the children celebrated their arrival with music and dancing, expressing their pure joy in the open air. Following this, the students transitioned into a calming yoga session under the shade of the trees, practicing balance and deep breathing to prepare their minds for the creative work ahead. After enjoying a nutritious group breakfast shared with friends, the centerpiece of the day began: a dedicated Art and Handicraft Workshop.

Surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, our young artists utilized various materials for drawing and crafting, allowing the peaceful park environment to guide their imagination. This outdoor experience provided a perfect opportunity for the children to develop their fine motor skills and aesthetic appreciation in a tranquil, Montessori-inspired setting. It was a day filled with laughter, discovery, and the beautiful realization of artistic vision in the heart of our city.
